The first schools with Albacores had already been observed a few days ago, but that was all.
Since yesterday there has been a change when a private boat managed to catch 7 of them.
Also today two private boats were successful.

Great catches in the 1st week of 2018
Date added: Tue, 09 Jan 2018 09:42
The photos in our Hall of Fame do not lie and show you that the catches in the first week of January are absolutely not disappointing.
And when I write week, I really mean only 4 days.
Because January 1 (New Year's Day) January 6 (3 Kings) and Sunday were automatically canceled.

These 4 days were mainly the North Atlantic Bonito's and the Barracudas which could not resist our bait.
The catches were also okay on the bottom and just above it.
All ray species, angel sharks and other shark species are all protected here in Gran Canaria.
We do not publish photos of these catches, and of course these fish species are also released again.

All in all, there is nothing wrong with spending a day of your vacation on the water.
Who knows, are you next week in the Hall of Fame?

Good start of 2018

We must not be dissatisfied the first days of 2018.

In recent days, good catches have been made immediately.

It was again the necessary Barracudas and Atlantic Bonito's which provided the most beautiful sport.
At the bottom, it was mainly the Rays that provided the most action.

Cavalier Fishing Charters

Great Catches
Date added: Thu, 28 Dec 2017 21:52
Today was the boat Cavalier reserved as a Full Charter and the fishermen on board preferred to go trolling.
Unfortunately, resulted this decision in a trip without any fish.

More luck for the anglers who booked a spot this week on one of the other fishing trips.

It was mainly the North Atlantic Bonito and the Barracuda that provided a great sport.
But also the Rays, Murenen, Snappers and Gar fish did well again.

For the first week of January, there are still some places available, so be sure to avoid disappointment.

Great Catches on the boat Cavalier
Date added: Sat, 16 Dec 2017 15:06
The last days the catches for North Atlantic Bonito are great.

This strong fighters are feeding on the surface of the water and with very light rods/lines it is great to catch them with small spinners or a piece of baitfish.

Interested ?

Atlantic Bonito's, Barracuda and...............
Date added: Mon, 11 Dec 2017 17:11
The previous days we had here in the South of Gran Canaria, some windy fishing days
The reason was the 'Calima' which brought this windy, but also wonderful temperatures over 25 degrees.
And that sounds a lot more pleasant than all the snow that they have in different North European countries.

Today, luckily, the wind was a lot less and the catches were as usual.
Several large big rays, beautiful Atlantic Bonito's, a few Barracuda and a lot of Sea Breams.

Nice Catches
Date added: Tue, 05 Dec 2017 07:48
Last week, some of the sportfishing boats had caught some large Wahoo
Unfortunately, these fighters do not show up more during the last days.
But there are still nice catches on the bottom and at the surface of the water.

Even with the current 'winter weather' we can not grumble, because with daily temperatures of 25 degrees and little breeze, a day of fishing is still a very good idea.

Satisfied Catches
Date added: Fri, 24 Nov 2017 22:19
A look back at the previous days shows that the catches by the trolling are almost finished.

The best catches are therefore mainly made on the reef / bottom.
The rays are still the largest here and can easily weigh several dozen kilos.

But with light material the other fish also give an excellent sport.
These are usually the Snappers, Breams, Baracuda, Trumpeter Fish, Atlantic Bonito, Jacks ....... etc.

3/4 Albacores
Date added: Mon, 13 Nov 2017 22:19
Yesterday, Sunday November 12, was the Cavalier the only sport fishing boat in Puerto Rico who left the harbour for a day of fishing.
The 5 sport fishermen, who had caught really many Albacores during the 3 previous days, had decided to fish their last fishing day on the bottom/reef.
Their very successful fishing holiday was concluded with catches of Red Snapper, Murenes, some Roggen, many small breams ...... etc.
On the way back to the harbor they hooked in with another Albacore.

Today, was the boat booked again as a Part Charter with 10 fishermen from different nationalities.
It became a good fishing day, especially for the Norwegian angler Geir Inge Sivertsen.
All 4 strikes this day, came on his fishing rod.
Geir caught and released 3 heavy Albacore Tunas and lost unfortunately the last one.

Thanks again and see you all tomorrow

Today, no catch reports were received from other sports fishing boats.

After the giant catch of yesterday, there was again this morning a small party onboard of the Cavalier again.
The fishermen on this boat hooked again 18 Albacores of which 15 were caught.

The other two trolling boats were the Blue Marlin 3 and the New Felusi.
Both caught 2 Albacores.

Even the fishermen who fished this morning on the bottom reported nice catches.

34 Strikes - 25 Albacores - on the boat Cavalier
Date added: Fri, 10 Nov 2017 23:29
The boat Cavalier really broke all records today, when it comes to catching Albacores.
For a while, it seemed the previous days that the schools Albacores had left Gran Canaria, but today it turned out to be the opposite.

Five Norwegian sport fishermen had the day of their lives.
They had 34 strikes of Albacore Tuna, and caught 25 of them.
All, estimated to be 25 to 35 kilos tunas, were again released in good condition.

The Blue Marlin 3 fished today at the bottom. They caught this morningmany dozens of Blue Pufferfish, some big Rays, Red Snappers and a beautiful Mako shark.

In this Last News, I would like to thank our German customers / friends Claudia and Susette very much for the many beautiful and unforgettable fishing days.
Both ladies fished, even like last year, 14 days at both the Blue Marlin 3 and the Cavalier.
With catches of different Albacores, Mako Sharks, Rays, Red Snappers, Maru Eels, Barakuda, Puffer fish ........ etc, they can look back on a very successful fishing holiday.

It seems that the schools with Albacores are gone ?

There has been caught on the bottom some nice Red Snappers, Barracuda, Seabreams, Rays, some small Mako Sharks, Atlantic Bonito .....etc
Most fish all has been released.

Good catches on the Cavalier
Date added: Wed, 01 Nov 2017 19:14
Yesterday we had Marcel van Bouwel from Belgium aboard the Cavalier who had rented the boat with some friends.
Since the previous fishing days had been very successful, with catches of Albacore Tuna, it was chosen to go trolling.
During the 1st hour of their trip they caught an Albacore and a beautiful Dorado.
A pity of the rather hard wind which was quite a bit strong on this fishing day.

Today, luckily, we had no more bother of this wind and also the catches were a lot better as yesterday
For example, 8 beautiful Albacores were caught. Bit sorry for the 4 fish who were missed, but this can also happen with fishing

Tomorrow we have another day
